Quizzes are my favourite type of worksheet. Without a doubt.
I don’t think we realise the full potential of printable quizzes (and non-printable quizzes too). They are a great tool in family life and let’s face it, they don’t take much effort to do and in fact, they can be fun if we let them be.
They give us an almost perfect way to spend time as a family. They give the opportunity to laugh together and simply enjoy each others company whilst doing something. It’s also good for kids to challenge their parents to see that their parents don’t actually know everything and aren’t perfect!
Kids need to see parents in negative situations to watch how they react. We shape the personalities of our kids, to some extent, and they do copy our behaviour. So, and only if you can react appropriately when loosing or such, it is good to show your reaction when bad things happen. Free quizzes are a great tool to use to do this because we can easily get a question wrong on purpose.
They are certainly a fun way to learn for kids. Think about it... what’s stopping us from using educational quizzes? They are a proven way to help children learn and this is because they are fun. Children will remember what they enjoy and what they find fun (Which is why they can talk non stop about facts to do with their hobbies!).
They give great opportunities for us to praise and encourage our kids. This is something we seem to forget to do sometimes but I don’t think we, as parents, can’t help but praise our kids when they get a question right which we didn’t expect them to.
Possibly the best thing about quizzes is that there is something for everybody and everybody can play. Obviously, the quiz has to be designed for use with both kids and adults so that it is fair but none the less, it is probably one of the only things in the world that both kids and grown ups can enjoy together. And I mean really enjoy.
